Horticultural Therapy for Seniors
Horticultural Therapy for Seniors (HTS) is a Grundtvig Senior volunteering project to send/host 6 senior volunteers between two community based organisations, Point Europa in the UK (the Coordinator) and RJSM, Marseille in France. The focus of the project is for the volunteers to assist directly with the support and development of community gardens in our local areas, along with promoting intergenerational learning and contact.

Horticultural Therapy is a unique idea that can meet a wide range of therapeutic needs in the physical, cognitive, developmental and emotional domains. Horticultural Therapy programmes enhance the quality of life by reducing stress, inducing spiritual growth, promoting sensory stimulation and so improving physical/mental health.

Nature Nurture
Nature Nurture is a Grundtvig Senior Volunteering project to send/host 6 senior volunteers between two community based organisations, Point Europa in the UK (the Coordinator) and Gulbene Municipality in Latvia. We are both active in the creation and delivery of training and learning opportunities for people living in our areas.
The theme of this project is nature, our landscape and how we can care for it. We want to help Senior Volunteers to learn more about the activities in the other country. They will work directly with volunteers and staff who are active in nature conservation, environmental work, forest management and outdoor education. Both of our organisations already have substantial work programmes in this area, so we can bring the Senior Volunteers into an activity where we have good contacts and experience.

Results: The project will involve 6 senior volunteers from the UK in and exchange with 6 volunteers from Latvia. With expected outcomes of exchange of volunteers and web site in both languages. Direct outdoor work, working with communities and schools.

Project Start Date:1st August 2011
Project End Date: 31st July 2013
